Air Base Meta Snapshot — Why Black Hawks Still Run May 2026
After the April Air Power Tuning and the May stability pass, the Air Base + Missile Launcher comp remains the dominant offensive plan. Here is the current read and the exact counter package.
Two patches have hit since the April Air Power Tuning re-balanced Black Hawk damage, and the question keeps coming up in the Discord: is the Air Base still the dominant offensive structure? Short answer — yes, and the May Bunker addition has not dethroned it. Here is the current snapshot.
§Why Air Base remains S-tier
The pathing mechanic is still the entire reason. Black Hawks fly direct, ignoring Border Tower spam, which means a Tank-only push has to grind through a perimeter that an Air strike can simply skip. The April nerf trimmed some one-shot trades against fortified defenses but did nothing to the structural pathing advantage. The full breakdown is in the Air Base Meta Guide.
§What the Bunker actually changed
The Bunker raises the floor for defense, not the ceiling. A garrisoned Bunker plus a Soldier Statue aura now absorbs the Black Hawk burst meaningfully better than the old Border-Tower-only spine. That has shifted the lobby read in one specific way: Air Rush players who used to invade soft economy targets at minute 14 are now waiting until minute 17-18 to make sure their second Air Base is up first. Two Air Bases breaks a Bunker; one rarely does.
Lobby read: if you see a neighbor with one Air Base and no Steel Mill chain, they are bluffing. Real Air Rush in May 2026 needs two Air Bases plus two Missile Launchers minimum.
§Current canonical counter package
- One Bunker at each chokepoint, garrisoned from the Barracks.
- One Soldier Statue inside each Bunker aura.
- Two Missile Launchers covering air approaches — never three.
- A maintained Barracks on soldier production from minute 12 onward.
- One defensive General with an air or generic-defense aura, parked at home.
